INTRODUCTION

            1.  The Education Train-the-Trainers Programs (ETTP) is one of the Programs under the Initiative for ASEAN Integration endorsed by the Leaders at the 4th ASEAN Informal Summit in Singapore in November 2000. It aims to accelerate the integration process within ASEAN, especially among the newer ASEAN countries, Cambodia, Lao PDR, Myanmar and Vietnam, through teacher and trainer development.

 ABOUT THE ETTP

            2.  Up to 60 training awards are available under the ETTP each year for lectures/trainers from Cambodia, Lao PDR, Myanmar and Vietnam to be attached to universities, polytechnics and the Institute of Technical Education in Singapore. Each lecturer in one of the Singapore education institutions to develop course materials for programs that they could teach back home, and observe teaching practices. Each lecturer/trainer can choose the area of attachment that best their needs from a list of areas, including fields such as Engineering, Information Technology and Business.

            3.  The airfare and local costs of the lecturers/trainers will be fully borne by the Singapore Government. Participants will also be provided with accommodation and a per-diem allowance.

APPLICATION PROCESS

            4.  Lecturers/Trainers from Cambodia, Lao PDR, Myanmar and Vietnam are welcomed to apply for the ETTP by completing an application form which can be obtained from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Ministry of Education or relevant agencies in their respective countries. Applications must be endorsed by the agency responsible for ETTP and returned to the Singapore Embassy by 30 June 2003. The results of the applications will be announced in July 2003.
